Super Kings annouce squad to face Kings XI
Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday named a 17-member squad for their opening fixture on April 19 against Kings XI Punjab at Mohali in the Indian Premier League Twenty20 cricket tournament.
Former India Test bowler Lakshmipathy Balaji has been omitted on fitness grounds while South African stars Makhaya Ntini and Albie Morkel would miss the tie as they are playing in their domestic Pro 20 tournament at that time.
The team management said an additional member has been added to cover in case of injury to any player.
"Both Ntini and Morkel will join the team on April 26. Basically, we want a cover in case any player is injured. We don't want to take any chances on this. Therefore we have one additional player in the team," said V B Chandrasekhar, Director of cricketing matters of team.
