Sehwag says he gells well with Gambhir
Delhi Daredevils captain Virender Sehwag feels he and Gautam Gambhir bat well together as openers as they have played in the same Ranji Trophy side, Indian team and in the Indian Premier League now.
"Opening the innings in any form of the game is important. I and Gautam have played together for Delhi and India and know each other very well. We run well between the wickets. We are getting better and better," said the swashbuckling batsman and scorer of two triple Test hundreds.
Sehwag said the presence of someone like Glenn McGrath in his team has done wonders for the confidence of young pace bowlers like V Yo Mahesh and Pradeep Sangwan.
"McGrath is a great bowler and a legend. He knows what to do in the first six overs. He and (former Aussie pace ace Dennis) Lillee talk to the youngsters in the team and share their experience. I have seen Yo Mahesh and Sangwan improving (due to this interaction)," the blaster from Najafgarh said.
Though his team has done extremely well in the Indian Premier League and tops the standings currently, Sehwag cautioned that one knock or bowling spell was enough in the Twenty20 format to become a match-winning effort.
"Any one can do it (from Mumbai Indians ranks). Sachin (Tendulkar), (Sanath) Jayasuriya, (Abhishek) Nayar, (Shaun) Pollock or Robin (Uthappa) or someone else. One batsman or bowler can help you win this game," he said.
Asked about his plans for Tendulkar, Sehwag said he would pray for the master batsman, who is a doubtful starter, to commit a mistake and get out.
Delhi Daredevils would take on Mumbai Indians in an IPL match at Navi Mumbai tomorrow.
