Jaffer blow for Bangalore
Indian Premier League strugglers Bangalore Royal Challengers have suffered a setback with the news that opener Wasim Jaffer has been ruled out for the next three weeks.
The Mumbai-born right-hander, who has scored 110 runs in five IPL matches, suffered a fracture in his hand against Chennai Super Kings on April 28.
The India Test opener has played through the pain barrier in subsequent IPL matches but the injury has worsened to the point that the 30-year-old can no longer grip the bat.
"It's a huge blow for us," Royal Challengers' chief cricket officer Martin Crowe told the Deccan Herald newspaper.
"He was adapting well to Twenty20 format and it is not good news that he will not be available."
The Challengers, who are bottom of the IPL table after five defeats in seven outings, could draft in Jagadeesh Arunkumar for Jaffer at the top of the order.
