Super Kings lose top spot in Power Rankings
The Chennai Super Kings may be celebrating reaching the final of the Indian Premier League but their drop in form which almost saw them miss out on the semi finals has seen them drop four places from the top of the Bartercard Power Rankings.
The top spot in the Rankings now belongs once again to the Victorian Bushrangers who were dethroned last month by the Super Kings having spent 15 consecutive months in the number one spot.
There is good news however for the Rajasthan Royals, the boys from Jaipur lead by Shane Warne moved up three places to second spot thanks in no small part to Shane Watson. The brilliant all rounder was a major reason why the Royals notched up 11 wins during the group stages of the IPL.
Despite losing their semi final by 9 wickets to the Super Kings another IPL success story are the Kings XI Punjab who remain in third place thank to some scintillating batting from Shaun Marsh and James Hopes.
The young Aussies pair scored over 800 runs between to propel the Kings XI through to the semis.
The Leicestershire Foxes, who will be looking to win a third Twenty20 Cup later this month, are in fourth place in the rankings. They will be hoping to close the gap on the leaders with a strong campaign and put behind them the disappointment of being knocked out of the group stages last years thank in no small part to having five games abandoned due to rain.
There is joy this month as well for the Indian Cricket League who see their Chennai team the Super Stars maintain a presence in the top ten by occupying sixth spot three places ahead of the Lahore Badshahs who complete a top ten double for the ICL.
