Rain washes away Sabres chances

The Twenty20 Cup group match between Somerset and Gloucestershire at Taunton was abandoned without a ball bowled at just after 7pm in the mid/west/wales division.

Umpires Neil Bainton and Richard Kettleborough decided there was no prospect of a start after heavy rain had persisted throughout the afternoon and early evening.

The teams took one point each, which left Somerset on five from six games and Gloucestershire on just three from the same number of fixtures.

Neither look likely to feature in the quarter-finals, although Somerset retain an outside chance.
