Redbacks bite Tigers in Twenty20
South Australia crushed Tasmania by 52 runs in their Twenty20 match at Launceston on Thursday.
After posting a competitive 176 runs on winning the toss, the South Australian bowlers strangled the home batsmen with a disciplined display that allowed the Tigers little latitude for big hitting.
The hero for the visitors was Dan Christian, who backed up his 54 off 24 balls, including six sixes, with four 4-23 off his four overs.
Tasmania were only able to reach a final total of 124 because of some defiant hitting from lower-order batsman Jason Krejza (31 not out off 22 balls).
The more recognised batsmen were unable to accelerate against tight bowling on a slow wicket, and the match was all but lost when they slumped to 6-85 in the 15th over.
The result keeps South Australia's slim hopes of making the preliminary final alive.
