New IPL dates still being reworked
Contrary to expectations, IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi did not announce the new schedule of the IPL 2009, saying the IPL dates are still being reworked.
However, he confirmed Ahmedabad and Vishakhapatnam (Vizag) as the new venues during IPL Season 2. Modi also assured full-proof security during all IPL matches.
According to Lalit Modi, Dharmasala has been confirmed yet as the IPL venue. "The IPL is in talks with five states and we will be able to take a final decision on the venues within a few days", he added.
The opening and closing ceremony of the IPL Part II will be held in DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai. There will be tight security in all IPL matches. Lalit Modi confirmed that security budget of the IPL has significantly gone up.
Modi ruled out any terror threat to IPL, saying he has no knowledge about any such things and they could be only speculations. He also denied reports some of the foreign players have expressed their reservations about playing in the IPL.
