Strauss wary of dangerous Windies

There will be no major changes in the approach of the England squad when they take on the West Indies in the one-day series but their captain Andrew Strauss insisted that his team will not be taking the visitors lightly.

The West Indies as limited over opponents are "very dangerous" Strauss said during the England innings against a WIPA XI in a warm-up match at Guaracara Park yesterday.

"They have a few match-winning batsmen and they have got some dangerous bowlers in the short format, they can beat any side on their day and I don't think we are underestimating them," he added.

Strauss also noted: "It is a lot easier said than done, but the general theme is to play good aggressive cricket both with the bat and ball.

"You have to look at the whole 50 overs and what is important is to mould the team according to your strengths and not someone else's.

"It is important that we do what is right for us and our capabilities rather than necessarily looking too much at what other teams are doing.

"Our one-day cricket has been inconsistent over the last 12 months but we have actually played some good one day cricket but most recently in India where we took a bit of a battering so we need to recover from that, regain some confidence and to do that we need to be playing our best cricket," Strauss concluded.
