Lightning hold on to secure 11 run victory

The Lancashire Lightning scraped to an 11-run win against the Nottinghamshire Outlaws in the Twenty20 Cup at Old Trafford despite a half century from Chris Read.

After being asked to bat, the hosts totalled 151-6 in their 20 overs, with Francois du Plessis (31) top scoring.

Notts got off to a terrible start in reply, with Tom Smith (3-20) and Glenn Chapple (2-29) reducing them to 19-5.

Captain Read (58 not out) and Samit Patel (35) then led the fight back, but Notts were to fall short on 140-7.

The result leaves Nottinghamshire still looking for their first win in this year's competition, while Lancashire are level with Derbyshire at the top of the North Division with two wins from two games.
