Gale sends Derbyshire to defeat
An unbeaten 79 from Andrew Gale led Yorkshire to an eight-wicket Twenty20 Cup victory over Derbyshire.
Gale hit his Twenty20 best, sharing 78 for the second wicket with Michael Vaughan as Yorkshire got home on 134-2 with 23 balls to spare at Chesterfield.
Earlier, Wavell Hinds hit 43 and Rana Naved ul-Hasan and Deon Kruis each took two wickets as Derbyshire made 131-6.
Both sides have now won two and lost two in the North Division, to stand level on four points.
After Derbyshire had won the toss, they were reduced to 49-3 before Hinds and Stuart Law (29) put on 52 for the fourth wicket.
In reply, Gale and Anthony McGrath added 22 for the first wicket before visiting skipper McGrath was caught by Tom Lungley off the bowling of Tim Groenewald.
Gale passed his previous best Twenty20 score of 54 during his stand with Vaughan.
But, when the former England captain was bowled by Mark Lawson, it was left to Naved to plunder 20 not out from just seven deliveries, hitting a four and two sixes, to seal the win.
