McGrath set for late dash to Champions League
Glenn McGrath who was shunned by the Delhi Daredevils for the entire IPL earlier this year is being courted to make a late dash to India because of the team's injury crisis.
The absence of star South African batsman A.B. de Villiers for the Daredevils, due to a back injury, has been compounded by the near-certain loss of New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori and England's Paul Collingwood to injuries picked up at the Champions Trophy in South Africa.
If the withdrawals of Vettori (hamstring) and Collingwood (buttock) are confirmed - this is likely because the decision rests with the players' national cricket boards - Delhi would have only three overseas players, one fewer than the maximum.
Their absence would be a significant boost for Victoria, which was been grouped with the Daredevils and Sri Lanka's Wayamba Elevens in the first stage of the $US6 million ($A6.87 million) tournament.
Delhi caretaker coach David Saker said he was already resigned to not having left-arm spinner Vettori and was similar pessimistic about Collingwood.
