Warriors bowlers on top at the Bellerive Oval
The Retravision Warriors will be chasing 168 for their first win in this years KFC Big Bash after the Tasmania Tigers were restricted to a low total at the Bellerive Oval.
George Bailey won the toss for the Tigers and elected to bat first, he admitted the decision was based on the previous game at the Oval when the SpeedBlitz Blues batted first in their 31 run victory over the Tigers.
It was a decision which backfired as earlier as the second ball of the innings when Rhett Lockyear was caught by Brad Knowles of the bowling of Drew Porter.
The Tigers got deeper into trouble with the loss of Bailey and Tim Paine who were soon back in the pavilion with the score 38-3 after 4 overs.
Travis Birt started to rebuild the innings for the Tigers and despite the loss of Alex Doolan and Jason Krejza he managed to increase the Tigers run rate.
Birt was joined at the crease by Naved-ul-Hasan and the pair enjoyed a partnership of 74 runs which brought the Tigers back into the game.
Birt was finally dismissed for 54 after skying a catch to Mitchell Marsh off the bowling of Nathan Coulter-Nile but his partnership with Naved-ul-Hasan (47) helped give the Tigers bowlers something to defend.
