Geeves blows away the Bulls at the Gabba
The Queensland Bulls were blown away by Brett Geeves who took 4 wickets in the space of 5 balls to set the Tasmanian Tigers a total of 153 to chase for victory at the Gabba.
Geeves struck in the 12th over to remove Craig Philipson, Andrew Symnonds and Ryan Harris to claim his first Twenty20 hat trick and leave the Bulls 105-6. He returned an over later to remove Chris Simpson with his second ball to put the Tigers well and truly on top.
After winning the toss and deciding to bat the Bulls didn't get off to the best start losing opener Nathan Reardon for 4 before James Hope and Lee Carseldine shared a partnership of 66 to put the Bulls on course for a total of around 175.
After Hopes was caught at long on by Naved-ul-Hasan off the bowling of Brendan Drew for 50 Carseldine soon followed to leave the Bulls 85-3. With another 10 overs to go the Bulls were still on top but that all changed when Geeves struck.
The Bulls tried to recover but lost wickets at regular intervals to leave the Tigers needing 154 for victory.
