Champions League goal achieved by Redbacks
The West End Redbacks are already planning for next Saturdays KFC Big Bash final at the Adelaide Oval but it will be hard for them not to look forward a few months to the lucrative Twenty20 Champions League.
Their victory over the Tasmanian Tigers not only confirmed a home game in the KFC Big Bash final but it also made them the first team to qualify for this years Twenty20 Champions League in India.
It wasn't just the fact that they had reached the Big Bash final that the Redbacks were celebrating, more importantly the Redbacks were now in the Champions League and ready to cash in on its wealth.
If the Redbacks didn't know how important the game was they soon realised it when IPL commissioner Lalit Modi was welcoming them to the lucrative annual domestic competition.
"South Australia's Redbacks are the deserving first recipients of a place in the 2010 Airtel Champions League Twenty20. They have been the most exciting team in Australia's KFC Twenty20 Big Bash tournament and are worthy members of the elite group that will compete in this year's tournament of champions." said Modi.
