Somerset Sabres sign Kieron Pollard
The Somerset Sabres have pulled off the big signing of West Indian all rounder Kieron Pollard who will play for the Sabres in this summers Friends Provident T20.
The all rounder made his name playing for Trinidad & Tobago during last years Twenty20 Champions League helping the Caribbean nation reach the final against the SpeedBlitz Blues.
Despite losing the final Pollard was seen as the start of the event and as become one of the world most sort after Twenty20 players. He his currently playing in Australia for the West End Redbacks where he has helped them win all four of their group games in this years KFC Big Bash.
The signing of Pollard by the Sabres makes them one of the favorites to reach the finals day of this years FPT20 competition.
"Kieron showed himself to be the sort of player who can change a game in a very short period of time. He played consistently well and produced some amazing shots. said Somerset director of cricket Brian Rose.
"Over the course of 16 games in our own Twenty20 competition he is guaranteed to have a huge influence. It's possible he might miss the first one, but after that we believe he will be available for every fixture."
"Cameron White may have to miss some games if he is called into Australia's squad for a one-day series against Pakistan and that is another reason we have signed Kieron. Our batting line-up in the Twenty20 is a mouth-watering prospect and there could be some tough selection decisions. That is the way we want it." he added.
