Modi offers olive branch to Pakistan cricketers

The tension between the IPL and Pakistan's cricketers seems to be easing after the IPL commissioner Lalit Modi announced there was still a window of possibility open for the players to join the league.

A number of Pakistan players seem ready to forgive and forget with Pakistan Twenty20 skipper Shahid Afridi saying he was willing to play in the IPL if he was signed by a franchise.

"When you think about it, Pakistan and India have much more in common than there are differences. We need to build our relations rather than break them. Sport should be used to build peace between our great nations, not break them... Although Pakistan and India have borders, these borders cannot divide humanity,"

The hope offered by Modi will go a long way to ease the tension which the auction created last week and it signaled the first time the league had been lambasted by all sections of the media from around the world.

"Some teams have still not finished their quota of players and some players could drop out. Franchises can choose Pakistani players as replacements or to fill vacancies" said Modi.
