Yorkshire sign Gibbs for Twenty20 challenge
Yorkshire Carnegie has announced they have signed South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs who will join the team in the summer to take part in the Friends Provident T20 tournament.
Gibbs will miss Yorkshire's first two group games against the Derbyshire Falcons and the Worcestershire Royals before joining up with his new teammates to take on the Durham Dynamos on June 10th.
"I've always enjoyed playing cricket in the UK," said Gibbs. "I have very good memories of Headingley as I got my first World Cup hundred there in 1999.”
"I'm really looking forward to playing over there and I'll hopefully help to lead the troops towards some sort of success. I hope we'll have some good weather."
Gibbs will join Australian all-rounder Ryan Harris as two of Yorkshires four overseas players who will be eligible to play in the Friends Provident T20 tournament.
