IPL rejects Jadeja's suspension appeal

The IPL governing Council has rejected the appeal of Ravindra Jadeja whose one year Indian Premier League ban was upheld after a hearing yesterday in Mumbai.

Jadeja had been given the one year ban after being found guilty of negotiating with other franchises outside of his contract with the Rajasthan Royals violating the IPL's strict rules.

The appeal was heard by BCCI President Shashank Manohar but he decided to uphold the ban meaning Jadeja will miss this months IPL.

IPL vice-chairman Niranjan Shah had spoke to the BCCI about reducing the ban but he’s plea was declined.

“He (Manohar) did not want to set a wrong precedent, so he dismissed the request. So Jadeja now cannot play in the IPL (this year)," an IPL official said.
