The Titans, the reigning South African Standard Bank Pro20 Cup champions, have named their squad to contest the inaugural International Twenty20 Club Championship to be held at Leicestershire Foxes' Grace Road ground in Leicester from September 15 to 17th.

The squad will be led by middle order batsman Gerard Dros and will feature six of the side that won this year's South African domestic Twenty20 tournament. The Titans beat the Warriors by eight wickets in the final to lift the trophy and earn their invitation to the first ever International Twenty20 Club Championship.

Opening the Titans' batting will be Man-of-the-Match from that game, 24-year-old Alviro Petersen, who took the Warriors bowling attack apart, despatching them to all parts of SuperSport Park, on his way to 78 off just 62 balls (8x4, 4x6).

Titans' bowling attack will contain joint heroes of Titans' semifinal success against Lions - Pierre de Bruyn and Ethy Mbhalati. De Bruyn's spell of 2/22 included the wickets of opener Adam Bacher and partner Ashraf Mall to put the brakes on the Lions' flying start.

Mbhalati's 3/22 then tore the heart out of the Lions' middle order to limit their total to 150, which Titans overhauled for the loss of six wickets with a ball to spare.

The Titans will face the current Twenty20 champions of every country that presently hosts domestic one-day tournaments for professional sides. Pakistan's Faisalabad Wolves, the reigning ABN-AMRO Twenty20 Cup champions, Chilaw Marians, the current holders of Sri Lanka's Twenty20 Cup and English Twenty20 Cup champions Somerset Sabres will all participate in the event.

All competing are hosts Leicestershire Foxes, who were of course the 2004 Twenty20 Cup champions and the PCA Masters XI, who will take the field with a number of current and past test and one-day international players from around the world, having provided a stern test to the Australian tourists in the opening game of their summer tour.

In the first round group stage, to be played on Thursday and Friday, teams will be awarded two points for a win and one for a tie with the top two teams in each group going through to Saturday's semifinals. Winners of these will contest the final that evening. Each game is scheduled to last two hours and 45 minutes, which includes a 15-minute break between innings with evening games being played under floodlights.

Leicestershire Foxes and Somerset Sabres and Chilaw Marians will all participate with their full squads and the playing squads for Faisalabad Wolves and the PCA Masters XI will be revealed in the coming days.

The Titans squad: Maurice Aronstam, Gulam Bodi, Pierre de Bruyn, Gerald Dros (Captain), Francois du Plessis, Paul Harris, Ethy Mbhalati, Morne Morkel, Johann Myburgh, Alviro Petersen, Aaron Phangiso, Brendon Reddy, Andre Seymore, Kruger van Wyk (Wkt), Albie Morkel.
