Super Kings throw away semi final hopes

The Chennai Super Kings hopes of reaching the knock out stages of the Indian Premier League suffered a big blow after their top order was blown away by the Delhi DareDevils to set up a run chase of just 113.

Having won the toss the Super Kings decided to bat first and it was decision which backfired massively as they lost three wickets inside the first four overs.

Having been dropped by Gautam Gambhir in the first over Matthew Hayden (1) was the first wicket to fall after he was caught by Paul Collingwood to give Anhish Nehra the early breakthrough.

Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni (0) promoted himself up the order but he only lasted two balls being succumbing to a Dirk Nannes bouncer to leave the Super Kings 13-2.

Nehra struck again in the fourth over to remove Murali Vijay (17) which left the Super Kings hopes of reaching the semi finals crumbling away.

Suresh Raina and Michael Hussey offered some resistantís with a 4th wicket partnership of 29 but when Raina (15) was dismissed by Tillakaratne Dilshan it triggered a middle order collapse.

Hussey (15), Albie Morkel (1), Rivichandran Ashwin (6) and Lakshmipathy Balji (3) all departed cheaply to leave the home side in deep, deep trouble having been reduced to 77-8.

Subramaniam Badrinath (30) and Doug Bollinger (16) battled back with a partnership of 35 to help the Super Kings reach 112-9 but the damage had already been done leaving the DareDevils the perfect opportunity to improve their run rate with a quick run chase.
