Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara has won the toss and decided to bat first against Zimbabwe in a must win game for last years losing finalists.

After losing their opening game against New Zealand on Friday Sri Lanka a defeat against Zimbabwe will end their tournament in the group stages.

They go into the game without spinner Muttiah Muralitharan who had been forced out of the tournament with a groin injury. While Sri Lanka decided on a replacement top draft into the squad Suraj Randiv will take the place of Muralitharan against Zimbabwe.

After warm up wins against Australia and Pakistan; Zimbabwe come into their first group game full of confidence knowing victory will seal them a place in the Super Eights.

"Our bowling has been very disciplined recently, so no problem that we are bowling first. I might consider opening with two spinners today, but the seamers will also get an opportunity," said skipper Prosper Utseya.
