Collingwood thrilled to claim t20 crown
Twenty20 World Cup winning skipper Paul Collingwood said England’s victory over the Australia in the Twenty20 World Cup final felt as good as winning the Ashes last summer in England..
"It's right up there, its got to be, this is the first world cup we've ever won," said Collingwood after the game.
"We've got some good players in the side, and with the work ethic we've had this year I think we're starting to see the results on the pitch. We're getting there, and we have today," he added.
"When you want to be the best you've got to beat the best. When we got them three wickets down early doors, we gave ourselves a great opportunity. We want to kick on from this."
Man of the tournament Kevin Pietersen said the victory capped an extraordinary week which saw the England batsman return to the UK to be at the birth of his first child on Monday.
"A pretty interesting week for me, a little kid on Monday and this trophy today," said Pietersen.
“This is for the whole team. Winning is a habit you create, and this team is hungry for success. What a great tournament for the boys. It's never easy playing Australia, but our bowlers did a great job today and 150 wasn't enough," he added.
