Falcons on top thanks to Bosman innings
Loots Bosman smashed a quick fire 94 from just 50 balls to help the Derbyshire Falcons reach an imposing total of 222-5 against Yorkshire Carnegie at Headingly.
The South African smashed 9 fours and 6 sixes sharing a 141 2nd wicket partnership with Chesney Hughes after skipper Chris Rogers (1) was dismissed at the end of the second over.
Bosman’s inning was ended by Adil Rashid in the 13th over but Hughes (65) continued the aggressive batting before John Sadler smashed 31 from just 10 ballls to help the Falcons set Yorkshire a tough run chase.
Elsewhere Mal Loye hits a classy half century for the Northants Steelbacks at Edgbaston against the Warwickshire Bears in the second of today’s early games.
The Steelbacks; who were beaten by the Sussex Sharks in last years Twenty20 Cup semi finals reached a total of just 147-5 despite Loye’s innings thanks to Imran Tahir who picked up 3 wickets.
The spinner was in impressive form conceding just 14 runs from his four overs to slow the Steelbacks down after Loye and Niall O’Brien (29) shared an opening stand of 65.
