Sabres claim stunning Rosebowl victory
The Somerset Sabres claimed a thrilling 7 run victory over the Hampshire Royals on an unbelievable night at the Rosebowl which saw the home side suffer a massive collapse.
Set a target of just 105 for victory; the Royals throw the game away with only 12 runs needed losing 6 wickets in the space of 18 balls to end the game 7 runs a drift.
On a slow pitch which offered no assistants for the batsman Jimmy Adamís stood out scoring 61 runs for the Royals on a pitch which no other Royals batsman reach double figures.
With victory within sight the Royals imploded after Adamís tried to hit Kieron Pollard for a six at the start of the 17th over. James Hildreth took the catch out on the deep square leg boundary to start a dramatic slide which saw the Sabres claim an unlikely victory.
Having been put into bat by the Royals; the Sabres struggled on disappointing Rosebowl wickets and were indebted to Marcus Trescothick (27) and Zander de Bryn (32) whose vital runs allowed the Sabres a target which they could successfully defend in dramatic circumstances.
