NSW name Twenty20 squad

Matthew Nicholson will captain New South Wales's first ever Twenty20 side in the opening match of the new domestic competition against Queensland at North Sydney Oval on Sunday.

Matthew Nicholson will captain New South Wales's first ever Twenty20 side in the opening match of the new domestic competition against Queensland at North Sydney Oval on Sunday.

In-form batsmen Phil Jaques and Dominic Thornely have been included along with rookies Moises Henriques and Jarrad Burke.

The squad also includes 26-year-old Sydney University all-rounder Ian Moran and 25-year-old Western Suburbs right-hand batsman Stephen Phillips.

Moran has made 446 runs at 55.75 in Sydney grade cricket this season and has taken 26 wickets at 16.46.

Phillips has scored 365 runs at 52.14 in grade this season.

The squad for Sunday's match and the away match against Tasmania on January 10 is: Matthew Nicholson (captain), Phil Jaques, Jarrad Burke, Dominic Thornely, Aaron O'Brien, Daniel Smith, Daniel Christian, Moises Henriques, Aaron Bird, Doug Bollinger, Stephen Phillips, Ian Moran (12th man to be announced).
