Sharks get back to winning ways against Royals
A quick fire partnership of 135 from Brendan McCullum and Murray Goodwin was enough to help the Sussex Sharks cruise to a 9 wicket victory over the Hampshire Royals.
Having been set a target of 133 by the Royals the Sharks lost Matt Prior (0) from the first delivery of their run chase after Nic Pothas caught the England wicket behind the stumps to give Danny Briggs the perfect start.
Despite the earlier lost McCullum (59) and Goodwin (76) remained calm to build their match winning innings which allowed the defending champs to claim victory with 8 overs to spare.
Having won the toss the Royals decided to bat first and although Neil McKenzie (40), Pothas (32) and Jimmy Adam (31) made important contributions no other batsman reached double figures to leave the home side well short of a competitive total at the County Ground in Hove.
