Outlaws slip to 7 wicket defeat at Headingley
Yorkshire Carnegie claimed a vital 7 wicket victory over the Nottinghamshire Outlaws at Headingley to move up into second place in the North Group of the Friends Provident t20.
Set a total of 159 for victory the home side reached their target with 10 balls to spare thanks to Adam Lyth who top scored with an innings of 43 before he was dismissed by Graeme White in the 11th over.
With the batsmen on top Herschelle Gibbs (29), Antony McGrath (38) and Gerard Brophy (31) all played important contributions to help the home record their 5th Friends Provident t20 victory.
Defeat for the Outlaws see’s their lead at the top of the North group cut to just three points despite a fine innings from Alex Hales who smashed 62 from just 43 balls including 4 fours and three sixes.
The opener looked set for another big score before he was caught by Rich Pyrah off the bowling of at the start of the 15th over Adil Rashid.
With the Hales gone the Outlaws failed to end the inning with Paul Franks (3) and Bilal Shafayat (8) both getting run out as the visitors could only record a total of 158-7.
