Dhoni hails emotional victory for Super Kings
Victorious Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni hailed his side Twenty20 Champions League triumph as an emotional experience as his team played together for the last time.
The reigning IPL champions cruised to an 8 wicket victory over the Chevrolet Warriors to secure their second major title in the space of just 5 months.
With the IPL player auction coming up in November Dhoni admitted it was an emotional time playing together for one last time before most of his team become free agents.
"It is a big moment. We are playing for the last time as a unit. We know some players will no longer be with us after the IPL auction. It is an emotional moment," said Dhoni after the game.
"It can't get better, winning the IPL and now the Champions League Twenty20," added the Super Kings skipper before being presented with the Champions League trophy.
Dhoni was also full of praise for the teamís coach, Stephen Fleming and the senior players who have help create the perfect atmosphere for the younger players.
"Fleming took over as coach and we wanted to create an atmosphere that was good for the younger players. The senior players have really done a good job. We had some fantastic foreign players like Mike Hussey and Matthew Hayden who had really helped out the youngsters."
"I am really happy with the performance in the knockout stages. The bowlers had done really well. The pacers have done well but we had banked more on the spinners throughout the tournament. The line that Ravichandran Ashwin bowled with Muttiah Muralitharan was crucial. Laxmipathy Balaji was also very good," he added.
