Impressive Duminy leads the way for Proteas

JP Duminy’s rich vain of form continued for South Africa after scoring a well deserved half century to help the Proteas reach 194-6 against Zimbabwe at the De Beers Diamond Oval in Kimberley.

The middle order batsman came to the crease after the dismissal of Colin Ingram (12) at the end of the 3rd over and produced another impressive performance for the Proteas.

Fresh from scoring 35 against Zimbabwe on Friday night Duminy recorded his third Twenty20 International half century with a 37 ball innings which included 5 fours and 1 sixes to help the Proteas set Zimbabwe a victory target 195.

Supported once again by David Miller (25) the pair built a 4th wicket of 69 to put the home side in control before Miller saw his off-stump go flying thanks to a quick delivery by Shingirai Masakadza.

Despite the lose of his partnership Duminy continued his rich vain of form by dispatching Masakadza for a huge six at the end of the 17th over to bring up South Africa’s 150.

Wicket keeper Heino Kuhn (1) and Robin Peterson (1) quickly followed but Duminy continued his one main blitz dispatching Chris Mpofu for two sixes and two fours in the final over to record an impressive 96.

Having won the toss; Graeme Smith once again led from the front, after scoring a half century against Zimbabwe on Friday night the former Proteas skipper smashed 45 from just 29 deliveries to set the home side on their way.
