Proteas cruise to easy victory over Pakistan
JP Duminy and Colin Ingram helped South Africa cruise to a comprehensive 6wicket victory over Pakistan at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
The pair recorded a 4th wicket partnership of 66as the visitors made light work of Pakistans total of total of just 119 to take a 1-0 lead in their best of two series in Abu Dhabi.
Duminy (41) and Ingram (46) came together in the 5th over after the Proteas had lost Greame Smith (12), Loots Bosman (2) and AB de Villiers (0) early on as Pakistan tried to fight back after a disappointing batting performance.
Shoaib Akhtar picked up two wickets in the space of 4 balls to remove Bosman and de Villiers but Duminy and Ingram kept their nerve to lead the Proteas to the verge of victory before Duminy was dismissed by Saeed Ajmal in the 16th over.
Despite the loss Ingram, supported by David Miller (13) helped South Africa complete an easy victory over a disappointing Pakistan side at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium
Having won the toss Pakistan suffered a torrid time after being bowled out for just with Proteas skipper Johan Botha leading the way picking up 3 wickets as the visitors took advantage of some disappointing batting.
Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi was at his explosive best scoring a quick fire 25 from just 7 deliveries but despite smashing 3 massive sixes his time at the crease was ended quickly by Botha in the 10th over.
Umar Akmal (14) and Mohammad Hafeez (13) offered some hope for the former Twenty20 World champions but the tail failed to fire as the home side lost 4 wickets in the space of 19 deliveries to leave Pakistan 98-2.
Misbah-ul-Haq (27) offered some resistantís to help Pakistan reach 119 but on a good batting track South Africa made light work of the run chase to complete victory with ease.
