Paine and Brit power Tigers to imposing total
Tim Paine and Travis Brit made sure this years KFC t20 Big Bash got off to an explosive start at the WACA as they helped the Tasmanian Tigers reach 189-6 against the Retravision Warriors.
The pair recorded a third wicket stand of 86 to put the Tigers in control in Perth after Mick Lewis struck twice in the 5th over for the home side.
Having seen Mark Cosgrove (13) and Rhett Lockyear (7) dismissed by the 36 year old former Australian international, Paine and Brit counter attacked in superb style smashing 3 fours and 7 sixes.
Their partnership was finally ended by Nathan Coulter-Nile in the 13th over after Brit (43) picked out Michael Swat at long off to end a tremendous innings, the 29 year old smashed 2 fours and 4 sixes during his innings which lasted just 22 deliveries.
Despite the loss of his partner, Paine (71) continued his blitz before his innings was brought to an end by Mick Lewis who picked up his third wicket of the night thanks to a stunning diving catch by Tom Beaten out on the long off boundary.
George Bailey (20) and Ryan ten Doeschate (20) added valuable runs for the visitors before Jason Krejza (2) and Naved-ul-Hasan (5) saw out the last 5 deliveries.
