Tigers blown away by Blues teenage sensation

The Tasmanian Tigers hopes of reaching the KFC t20 Big Bash final were blown away by Patrick Cummins who picked up four wickets to help the Speedblitz Blues restrict the Tigers to a total of just 103.

The 17 year old tore through the Tigers top order reducing them to just 25-4 after Stuart Clark had struck with just the second delivery of the game as the Tigers got off to a disastrous start losing Mark Cosgrove (0) after he cut a delivery from Clark onto his own stumps.

Out of form Rhett Lockyear (2) quickly followed before Cummins picked up his second wicket of the over when he bowled Ed Cowan (4) to leave a shell shocked Tigers 14-3.

With wickets falling around him opener Jonathan Wells tried to remain positive as he cut Clark for just the third boundary of the innings in the 5th over but Cummins struck again as the Tigers slump continued.

The impressive 17 year old picked up his third wicket of the innings when Wells (10) picked out Ben Rohrer at point who took an easy catch.

With four early wickets already lost George Bailey and Travis Brit launched a counter attack adding 34 valuable runs during a 5th wicket partnership in just 4 overs as the Tigers remained positive.

The partnership quickly ended as did the Tigers hopes of setting the Blues any sort of competitive total as Bailey (18) and Brit (22) both departed in the space of 10 deliveries to leave the home side 64-6.

Ryan ten Doeschate (10), Jason Krejza (11) and James Faulkner (2) quickly followed as the Tigers ended their 17 overs 103.
