Boucher seals tense victory for Warriors

Mark Boucher smashed an unbeaten half century to help the Chevrolet Warriors seal their place in the Standard Bank Pro20 Final thanks to a 4 wicket victory over the Nashua Dolphins at Kingsmead.

The defending champions sealed a 2-0 semi final series victory after securing a 4 wicket victory in game 1 last weekend in Port Elizabeth.

Faced with a run chase of just 125 the Warriors got off to a bad start losing Davy Jacobs (0) and Nicky Boje (2) inside the first two overs.

JJ Smuts (14) and Justin Kreusch (2) quickly followed but with Boucher at the crease the Warriors were always favourites to claim the victory especially after Craig Thyssen smashed 2 sixes off the bowling of Jon Kent in the 17th over.

The game went down to the wire with the Warriors needing 10 runs from the final 5 deliveries after Craig Thyssen (22) was dismissed by Yasir Arafat at the start of the final over.

With the pressure mounting Lyall Meyer dispatched a boundary and three further runs to leave Boucher facing the final ball of the game with the Warriors still needing 2 runs.

The former South African international held his nerve to smash a full length delivery from Arafat back down the ground for a four to spark wild celebrations in the away teams dug out.

Having won the toss the Dolphins got off to a horrible start losing Cameron Delport (5) and Imraan Khan (2) inside the first 4 overs as the Warriors took control of the game.

With the loss of two early wickets the home side never regained the momentum as Ahmed Amla (17), Vaughn van Jaarsveld (20) and David Miller (11) all failed to fire with the bat.

Kent smashed a vital 22 and with Daryn Smith adding 12 the Dolphins reached 124-7 from their 20 overs.
