Cobras claim victory after dramatic shoot out
The Nashua Cape Cobras booked their place in the Standard Bank Pro20 final after an amazing 5 wicket victory over the Nashua Titans at Centurion.
The Cape Cobras successfully chased down a massive victory target of 223 to seal a 2-0 series victory in their best of three semi final to clinch a place in the t20 Champions League.
In an extraordinary match, 36 fours and a world record 25 sixes were smashed around the ground as both sides bowlers suffered a torrid time with the Titans Andre Nel conceding 37 runs from just 2.4 overs.
Despite losing Herschelle Gibbs (5) in the second over Richard Levi (60) and Dane Vilas (53) set up the victory with a 2nd wicket partnership of 92.
Owais Shah added 64 from just 34 deliveries before Justin Kemp smashed a four and a six in the final over to seal a dramatic victory as the Cape Cobras chased down the largest total in the history of the Standard Bank Pro20 series.
Having batted first the Titans posted a total of 222-4 thanks in no small part to Albie Morkel who smashed 71 from just 27 deliveries which included 6 fours and 6 sixes.
Farhaan Behardien (69) and Jacques Rudolph (40) offered excellent support before David Wiese ended the innings with a 10 delivery cameo of 30 to leave the Cape Cobras facing a mammoth run chase.
