Vettori named new Royals Challengers skipper
New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori has been announced as the new Royals Challengers Bangalore skipper ahead on the start of the IPL on Friday night.
The 32 year old will take over from Anil Kumble who retired from cricket after the end of last year’s t20 Champions League in September.
Royal Challengers owner Vijay Mallya said Vettori was an experienced and respected leader and he hoped the Royals Challengers would achieve the ultimate goal of winning the IPL under the Kiwi’s leadership.
"Vettori is one of the most respected captains in the world and was praised for his leadership skills in the World Cup quarterfinals against South Africa which the Kiwis won by 49 runs," said Mallya.
Former skipper Kumble now chief mentor of the Royal Challengers said Vettori is a respected professional not only within his team but amongst his international peers as well.
"His unique ability to get players to perform as a unit and deliver more than just the sum of their parts, as he has done time and again with New Zealand, will be a big asset to any team," he added.
