Gambhir pleased with Knight Riders spirit

Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir was pleased with the way his team fought their way back into their elimination match against the Mumbai Indians, despite losing by 4 wickets.

Having set the Indians a victory target of 148, the Knight Riders were on the verge of a comprehensive thrashing after Aiden Blizzard and Sachin Tendulkar enjoyed an opening stand of 81.

With the match quickly going away from them, Brett Lee struck to remove Blizzard in the 8th over as the Knight Riders thought their way back into the game to set up a tense finish.

James Franklin proved to be the Indians hero once again, sharing a 7th wicket stand of 15 with Harbhajan Singh to seal a dramatic victory with just 4 balls to spare.

"It showed the talent of the team. The way Mumbai Indians were cruising, and to take it to the last over from there [was good]. The team has come a long way from the last three years. I am extremely proud of the players," said Gambhir after the game.

"We lost four wickets in the first six overs, it was the turning point. We did not apply ourselves. We were trying to take more risks, trying to score quickly. In T20 sometimes things don't go your way. They bowled well, were sensible and stuck to good areas," he added.
