Misfiring Eagles blown away by Naved-ul-Hasan

The 2009 champions got their Friends Life t20 campaign off to a winning start thanks to a crushing 32 run victory over the Essex Eagles in front a full house at the County Ground in Hove.

Having recorded a total of 173-4 the Sussex Sharks restricted the Eagles to a total of just 141 thanks to some impressive bowling from Naved-ul-Hasan (17-5) who picked up five wickets including three in the 17th over to seal a dramatic victory.

With the Kiwi gone, Naved-ul-Hasan tour through the Eagles low order removing James Foster (15), Graham Napier (0) and Chris Wright (0) to complete a impressive victory for the Sharks.

Having been put into bat the Sharks reached an imposing total of 173-4 thanks to a quick fire half century from Murray Goodwin (53); the veteran smashed seven boundaries during his 39 ball innings before he was trapped LBW by Tim Phillips in the 16th over.

Chris Nash (43) and Lou Vincent (35) offered valuable support to leave the Eagles facing a mammoth run chase which proved too much after the visitors suffered a disappointing batting display.
