Outlaws cruise to third straight victory

The Nottinghamshire Outlaws good start to this years Friends Life t20 tournament continued after a 28 run victory over the Warwickshire Bears at Edgbaston.

Riki Wessels (70) and David Hussey (56) lead the way to help the Outlaws reach a total of 193-7 after Chris Read won the toss and elected to bat first.

Faced with a tricky run chase, the Bears never troubled the Outlaws total after they lost three early wickets thanks to Luke Fletcher who struck twice to remove Varun Chopra (6) and William Porterfield (12)

With Neil Carter (10) being run out by Adam Voges in between, the Bears slumped to just 36-3 at the end of the field restrictions inside the opening 6 overs.

Darren Maddy (61) kept the Bears faint hopes alive with a quick fire half century which included five sixes before he was dismissed by Darren Pattinson in the 18th over.

With Maddy gone the Bears closed out their disappointing innings to record their second straight defeat after opening the tournament with back to back victories.

Wessels led the way smashing seven boundaries and four sixes during his 43 ball innings which put the Outlaws on top after the visitors lost Alex Hales (3) early on.

Voges added 20 runs before Hussey smashed four boundaries and two sixes to record another half century to give the Outlaws a big total which proved to be easily defendable.
