Razzaq blitz seals victory for the Foxes
Abdul Razzaq stunned the Lancashire Lightning with a 23 ball half century to seal a stunning 4 wicket victory for the Leicestershire Foxes at Old Trafford.
With bad light forcing Lightning skipper Steven Croft to turn to his spinners, Razzaq (62) smashed three fours and five sixes to help the Foxes complete a remarkable victory after they seemed on course for a comprehensive defeat.
The Pakistani, who only arrived in the country last night, shared a 7th wicket stand of 66 with Wayne White (17) from just 28 deliveries as the pair completed the victory with a ball to spare in front of a disappointingly small crowd.
Faced with a tricky run chase the Foxes got off to a poor start when Cobb (0) was dismissed by Smith from the first delivery of the innings after Jordon Clark took a simple catch in the covers.
Will Jefferson (2) quickly followed and although Andrew McDonald (57) recorded a quick fire half century the Foxes continued to lose wickets at regular intervals as they slipped towards an inevitable defeat before Razzaq stole the show.
The home side battled against a number of heavy rain showers which forced the teams off the pitch three times on their way to a total of 162-5 from 19 overs.
Stephen Moore (48) and Tom Smith (45) lead the way with an opening stand of 88 which was interrupted for over 45 minutes after rain struck at the start of the 2nd over.
The Foxes through their way back into the game thanks to Claude Henderson who picked up the wickets of Moore and Steven Croft in quick succession after Joshua Cobbs had remove Smith in the 10th over.
Despite the loss the Lightning continued to increase the pressure thanks to Paul Horton (14), Gareth Cross (15) and Jordon Clark (15) who added valuable runs to leave the visitors with a victory target of 163 from 19 overs.
