Guptill leads the Kiwis to six wicket victory
James Guptill smashed 78 runs to help New Zealand win their third t20 International in the space of seven days thanks to a six wicket victory over South Africa at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington.
The Kiwi opener dispatched five boundaries and four sixes to help the Kiwis cruise to victory in the opening match of their three game t20 International series after they had restricted the South Africans to a total of just 147-6.
The home side continued their excellent run of form in the shortest format of the game Guptill thanks to Guptill who remained unbeaten at the end of the game after James Franklin (8) hit the winning runs with four balls to spare.
Jane Williamson (24) and Brendon McCullum (16) added valuable runs after Tim Southee (3-28) and Nathan McCullum (1-16) had restricted the Proteas who were put into bat by the Kiwis.
JP Duminy enjoyed a cameo innings of 41 but with only Justin Ontong (32) offering any resistantís the Proteas could only set the Kiwis a victory target of 148 thanks to some impressive bowling from Southee and McCullum.
