Impressive Bairstow leads England rescue

Jonny Bairstow produced a faultless display to help England recover after a stuttering start to leave Pakistan needing 151 runs to take a 2-0 lead in their best of three t20 International series.

Bairstow (60) arrived at the crease with the visitors 49-3 but he showed why he is one of Englandís most promising youngsters with a faultless half century.

The 22 year old, playing in just his 5th t20 International, held Englandís innings together with a near perfect display to help the t20 World Cup champions record a total of 150-7.

Bairstow smashed five boundaries and one vital six off the bowling of Umar Gul in the final over to give England fresh hope of tying the series after their defeat on Thursday night.

Having won the toss, England got off to a disappointing start which saw them lose Kevin Pietersen (17) early on after he was dismissed by Saeed Ajmal at the start of the 5th over.

Ravi Bopara (1) and Eoin Morgan (9) quickly followed to leave England 49-3 after 6.5 overs but Craig Kieswetter (31) and Bairstow started to lay the foundations of a much needed

The pair scored 30 vital runs before Kieswetter was dismissed in the 10th over by Shahid Afridi after he had conceded two massive sixes at the start of the over.

Samit Patel added a quick fire 13 but it was Bairstow who stood out with an impressive performance to lead Englandís fight back to give the t20 World Cup champions a chance of leveling the series with one game to play.
