Wright and Prior help Sharks chase down victory

The Sussex Sharks strengthened their position at the top of the Friends Life t20 South Group thanks to a hard fought four wicket victory over the Essex Eagles at the County Ground in Chelmsford.

Faced with a victory target of 178, the Sharks sealed victory with one ball to spare thank in part to Luke Wright (46) and Matt Prior (35) who helped steer the visitors to their fourth victory of the tournament to move fours points clear of the Eagles.

Graham Napier (2-25) kept the pressure on the Sharks with the wicket of Joe Gatting in the penultimate over but Ben Brown kept his cool to smash a boundary off the bowling of Ryan ten Doeschate (1-40) to complete the win with a ball to spare.

It proved to be a disappointing night for the Eagles who failed to defend a total of 177-4 after skipper James Foster smashed 65 ruins off just 31 balls which included five boundaries and four sixes.
