Scorchers steamroll their way into the semis

The Perth Scorchers sealed a home semi-final berth thanks to a crushing 98 run victory over the Adelaide Strikers in a one sided match at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide.

The visitors stormed into the semi-finals after they bowled the Strikers out for just 91 with Alfonso Thomas (3-13) and Nathan Coulter-Nile (3-13) leading the way for the Scorchers.

The heavy defeat for the Strikers means they go from challenging for a home semi-final to dropping out of the tournament altogether after their run rate dropped into minus figures to leave the Hobart Hurricanes and Brisbane Heat fighting over the last spot on Saturday.

Having been put into bat by the Strikers, the Scorchers smashed their way to a commanding total of 189-4 thanks in part to a quick fire half centuries from Shaun Marsh (79) and Herschelle Gibbs (54).
