Twenty20 World Cup Dates Announced
South Africa Cricket chief executive Gerald Majola has confirmed the dates for the first Twenty20 World Cup to be held in the country next year.
Majola told the Rapport newspaper the tournament would be held from September 21 to 30 after a meeting with ICC tournament manager Campbell Jameson and Warren Deutron, commercial manager of the ICC.
"We have agreed that the tournament will take place in three cities but we have yet to decide where," said Majola.
"Twelve countries will take part in the tournament and we will approach it in the same manner as we did the World Cup in 2003 in South Africa.
"The ICC sponsors will get preferential treatment in the stadiums where the games will be played."
The format is a big success in South Africa, where it has drawn full houses to many of the games played over the past two seasons there.
