Hussey hopeful ahead of Final

Victoria may be missing big gun Cameron White, but believes it still has the ammunition to successfully defend its Twenty20 title in the final against Tasmania at the MCG on Saturday night.

The hard-hitting Bushrangers skipper helped his side secure the home final but won't play in the decider due to Australian one-day selection.

However David Hussey, who hit form at the right end of the competition, is one player ready to step up to fill White's shoes.

In Victoria's last match Hussey blasted a match-winning 86 off 37 deliveries as the undefeated Bushrangers knocked over Western Australia's impressive total of 201.

It was a timely knock from the 29-year-old, who admitted he had struggled for form throughout the series.

"I haven't done too much in this competition so I really wanted to make a few," said Hussey, who is the younger brother of Test and one-day batsman Michael.

"It was a such a big total to chase down so I was lucky to hit a few in the middle and I was the lucky one to get us across the line."

While Hussey starred for the Vics in the final round robin match, Tasmanian Michael Dighton posted an Australian record 111 off 52 against NSW in Sydney.

He and fellow opener Michael Di Venuto are two of the Tigers' danger men for the final, according to Hussey.

"They're chock full of talent, they've got super players, who are international candidates.

"Their bowlers are good steady aggressive bowlers while Dighton's been around for a long time and he's got the potential to clear the pickets so hopefully we can nullify him and Di Venuto.

"It's going to be a good game of cricket and hopefully we can come away with some silverware."

Cricket Australia is hoping fans who attend the one-day international between Australia and England at the MCG back up for the Twenty20 final.

There is free admission to holders of a valid metcard, while tickets can also be bought at the gate.

Cricket Australia on Friday released figures proving the super-short version of the game is a winner with fans.

In its second season, crowds are up 13 per cent on last year.

More than 124,000 spectators attended the qualifying rounds of the domestic tournament, with an average of 11,277 per match.
