Pro20 reaches fever pitch

Any of the bottom four teams on the Pro20 log can still book their place in the semi-finals.

Tomorrow sees the last two matches of this season’s Pro20 tournament, with the winners booking themselves a semi-final berth. Only the Lions and Cape Cobras are guaranteed of their places in the final four.

In the first match the Titans take on the Dolphins in Benoni. The Titans are last on the log with four points and the Dolphins, in fourth place, have six points. Both teams have to win if they want to be in the top four.

In East London the fifth placed Warriors take on the Lions. The match is irrelevant for the Johannesburg side, but the Warriors will have to win to assure themselves a place in the semi-final.

The Eagles, currently in third place on the log, will hope tomorrow’s results hold no surprises. If the Titans beat the Dolphins with a bonus point, they will be out of the race. However, if the Dolphins win and the Lions beat the Warriors, the Dolphins and Eagles will make it into the top four.

A straight forward Titans victory, and a Lions win over the Warriors, will help the Pretoria franchise climb the log to fourth place.

Tomorrow’s matches start at 6pm and the two semi-finals will take place on Friday 16 March at Newlands in Cape Town and on Sunday 18 March at the Wanderers.
