Voges will come good for Hawks

Hampshire manager Paul Terry has backed Adam Voges to come good during the Hawks' three successive Twenty20 home games - starting against the Sussex Sharks tonight.

The Hawks have to beat Sussex, Middlesex on Friday and Essex on Sunday afternoon, all at the Rose Bowl, to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the quarter finals.

To do so they are likely to need new signing Voges at his best.

So far the Australian has struggled to adjust to the slower wickets and the wet conditions since arriving from Perth last week.

He has just nine runs from his three innings so far at a strike rate of just 45 runs per 100 balls.

Voges has been in phenomenal Twenty20 form for Western Australia in recent seasons, as an average of 31.87 and a strike rate of 134.92 indicates.

But the hard, fast wickets in Perth are totally different to the county tracks in England at this time of year.

Terry said: "It's been a tough baptism for Adam but the conditions haven't been the best for him".
