Australians up for IPL auction
Australian captain Ricky Ponting headlines the confirmed list of Australian cricketers who have agreed to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 competition.
Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee, Matt Hayden and Andrew Symonds are among 13 Australian players who will feature in tomorrow's IPL auction in India after Cricket Australia confirmed the players signed a long-form agreement with the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
Teams will also be able to bid for Michael and David Hussey, Nathan Bracken, Simon Katich, Cameron White as well as retired international greats Shane Warne, Glen McGrath and Justin Langer.
Player manager Neil Maxwell says Michael Clarke and Jason Gillespie have chosen not be involved in the competition joining Brad Haddin and Mitchell Johnson on the sidelines.
Each franchise has a spending cap of $US5 million at the auction with the likes of Ponting and Indian captain MS Dhoni ranking in the top bracket of between $350,000 to $400,000.
The auction is scheduled to be held in India tomorrow afternoon.
