Rockets lose rain-affected match
The Ahmedabad Rockets crashed to their fourth consecutive defeat as the Kolkata Tigers overhauled their revised target of 85 in 10 overs with eight wickets still in hand.
There was steady drizzle during the innings break and the heavens opened up just when the first ball of the Tigers' innings was about to be bowled, and play was able to resume only 45 minutes later. Under the revised target, the Tigers were set a revised target to win their second match in the tournament.
Lance Klusener (30 not out) stayed until the end to ensure the Tigers romped home without too much fuss. The tempo was set by Kluesener's opening partner SG Das and Abhishek Jhunjhunwala, while skipper Craig McMillan hit a quickfire 16 not out as his team easily overhauled the revised target.
Earlier, S Sriram scored an unbeaten 52 to anchor the Rockets' innings after the Ahmedabad team once again lost early wickets without too many runs on the board. Sriram was well supported by AS Jain (24) as the duo put on 66 runs for the second wicket. KM Sanjeev then paid a cameo knock of 22 towards the end of the innings to help the Rockets post a competitive total of 156 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs.
Andre Adams (1-19), A Ahmed (1-27) and U Chandana (1-28) bowled well for the Tigers, but Klusener was not in the best of bowling form and gave away 45 runs in his four overs.
