Dolphins down terrible Titans
Anything the Dolphins could do the Titans could do worse as the Durbanites surged to victory by 38 runs in a Standard Bank Pro20 match at Kingsmead on Wednesday.
The Dolphins' total of 131 for six looked a little green around the gills. But that proved more than healthy enough as the Titans slip slided away to a dismal reply of 93 in 18 overs.
The win, which came gift-wrapped with a bonus point, ushered the Dolphins into second place in the standings. And to think they went into the match needing a win simply to stay in the running for the semifinals.
Pierre de Bruyn's unbeaten 44 off 40 balls for the Dolphins was the best of the batting in a match in which the bowlers held sway. In fact, the biggest stand in the match was the 34 runs that Johann Louw (22) and De Bruyn shared for the sixth wicket.
Not for the first time this season, Faf du Plessis (0-18) and Roelof van der Merwe (2-20) led the Titans' attack.
But Yusuf Abdullah (3-26) and Daryn Smit (2-14) went a few better for the Dolphins, and the Titans inflicted two runouts on themselves.
